Excellent post Brian. I think the point about writing content that appeals to influencers in spot on. Could you recommend some good, manual strategies through which I can spot influencers in boring niches *B2B* where influencers are not really talking much online? Is it a good idea to rely on newspaper articles to a feel for what a particular industry is talking about? Would love to hear your thoughts on that.
Check and increase backlinks: Backlinks are links from other websites into your site. The more backlinks you have from authoritative sites, the better the search engines like your content. You can use a tool such as Ahrefs to check your current links and see what your starting point is. Adding backlinks takes time and effort. You can increase the number of links by adding resources to your site such as checklists, downloads and presentations that others want to link to or share.
Organic search engine optimization (SEO) can drive plenty of traffic to your website if done well. SEO is a combination of on-page and off-page factors that helps the popular search engines match user inquiries with web content. The resulting links are served on what’s known as search engine results pages (SERPs). Brian, great post as always! Question: Do you consider authority sites (industry portals) a form of “influencer marketing?” e.g. guest blogging, etc? In some niches there are not so many individuals who are influencers (outside of journalists) but there are sites that those in the industry respect. I am in the digital video space and for me one site is actually a magazine that is building a very strong digital presence. Thanks, keep up the good work!

Through continued searching and then visiting your site, this in time will improve the ranking of your site and make Google think that your site is the one that people are most clicking on.
